About NEO¹

Neo Davis aka Neo¹ or Totally, is a rare breed of DJ that has been rinsing the speed garage sound behind the decks since the Summer of 1999.

Neo has earned the reputation as a staple in the Vancouver Island rave scene. You always know when he is up there dishing out the ear candy because everyone at the party is on the dancefloor!

The night that Neo fell in love with speed garage and everything that it embodies, with its pounding shuffly beats and warping, dirty basslines, was a night back in 1998 when he witnessed Dave Armstrong and Norrie Taylor (Prime & Seven) playing a tag set and totally destroying the dancefloor with basslines, building up such an immense energy and keeping everyone begging for more. He knew at that moment that he wanted to be a part of the scene on the other side of the turntables, exchanging vibes and energy with everyone on the dancefloors, interacting and hyping up the crowd into a frenzy. Intrigued by this original 'new' sound, Neo and a couple of friends decided to get a pair of old turntables and a 2 ch. mixer with no eq. and started playing around with a few different genres including speed garage, house, breaks, hip-hop, hardhouse and trance.

Most of Neo's first gigs were playing up and down Vancouver Island at raves, house parties and nightclubs. He was throwing raves and club nights with his friends under the names Vintage Productions and DavisHouse Productions 2000-2003. Neo held residencies at Hush, Sweetwaters and The Press Room 2001, 2003-5, 2006-8 and Velvet and Infinity nightclubs 2014-2016. Through his career Neo has found himself dj'ing as far as clubs in Colorado and Las Vegas, to Full Moon parties in Thailand, jungle parties in Cambodia and festivals in Costa Rica. One of the next destinations is Guatemala in 2024.

Since his premier release "Destination EP" debuted on Atomic Zoo Recordings - Calgary in 2010 Neo has worked with several other labels including Backzide Records - San Francisco, Bass Hound Records - Seattle, Breakz R Boss Records - Calgary, Bassbong Records - Vancouver, Filthy Logik Records - Las Vegas and Karizma Radio, Nanaimo. Currently he is working on several projects forthcoming in 2023 on DavisHouse Records, Victoria, BC. and Speed Garage Records, Las Vegas.

Neo also produces under the alias 'Totally' and in the collaborations, "Bassline Connection" and 'Funk'n Ruff' with fellow Canadian bad bwoy selectah's Joseph 'Kehx' Mclean and Brent 'd-Set' Kral, respectively. Together these duo's produce bass house, speed garage, bassline house and bassline breaks. Neo is going to be entering the realm of World Bass with a couple of separate collaborations he is currently working on ;)

With over 24 years of bassline knowledge behind him, come out and witness Neo share his art, encapsulating his positive loving vibration, energy and stage presence, animating dancefloors with his bass heavy sets tuned to the funky sounds of jackin' house, 2-step, breaks, trap and garage and the dirty, rollin', warpin' and whompy bassline driven beats of bass house, speed garage, bassline house and UK 4x4 !
